It sure isn't cheap, but I was looking for one that has the same attractive, polished look to match my home decor. The all solid milled aluminum is very sturdy, and having used exclusively ball joint tripod heads for photography, I know I needed one like it so that the projector won't slowly drift from its calibrated position as the house constantly shakes a bit from normal walking or the kids jumping around. I have a normal "low" 8-ft ceiling, and so I like the short rod, which also reduces vibration.
