A good battery at a fair price. This battery actually works in your d5100! After buying two after market EN-EL14 batteries from other vendors, neither of which worked in my Nikon d5100, I decided to try one more time in order to avoid the shamefully high price Nikon charges for an OEM battery (>$50). The Wasabi Power battery works!!

Once I determined that the Wasabi Power battery worked, I set out to do a direct comparison with the OEM Nikon battery. The Nikon battery had been fully charged and then partially discharged twice. I discharged it fully (until the battery flashed red on the camera) and then fully charged it again. Since the Wasabi Power battery was new, I fully charged it and discharged it twice and then fully charged it again. Both batteries should be roughly equivalent at this point.

Next, I recorded video on the d5100 continuously. The d5100 records 20 minutes of video at a time. After every 20-minute interval, I alternated batteries. I continued to do this until the battery indicator on the camera flashed red. I kept track of total video time with each battery.
Results: The OEM Nikon battery recorded 64 minutes, 10 seconds of video while the Wasabi Power battery recorded 57 minutes, 15 seconds of video.

Conclusion: Though the Wasabi Power battery had approximately 10% less capacity in my test, it still provided nearly an hour of video recording. Furthermore, the cost of the Wasabi Power battery is 40% the cost of an OEM Nikon battery, and the it comes with an unconditional 3-year warranty while the OEM Nikon battery has only a 1-year warranty.
